KANTARII
Species Name
Kantarian (Designated Species 7659 by the Borg)
Home System
Kantarii, located some 87,500 lightyears beyond the RSE border within the Delta
Quad, more toward the galactic core. System is a single star orbited by 4 planets,
all located within the "habitable" ring of the suns perimeter. It
is unknown which is the original homeworld of this species, as they hold remains
of highly developed civilization, although current
technology level is comparable to UFP. All planets are class M, but with higher
concentrations of nitrogen, and lower than normal levels of oxygen in the atmosphere.
Any AT mission would require the use of oxygen equipment. (The atmosphere without
this equipment to a human would be like standing on top of Mt Everest... you
could do it, but not for long... Running or other strenuous activity (fighting)?
Forget it...)
Technology
Appears comparable to UFP, however in no way can this be adapted for use by
UFP or any other race within UCIP
at this time. The design, function, and operation of various technologies are
as unfathomable to UCIP scientists as electronics would be to a human from the
Victorian era of Earth (1890-1910). These devices still produce warp capability
for starships, matter transmission, and so forth, so that the species can easily
be considered an equal to UCIP. In reality, these guys are a little way ahead
of UCIP development, but not much.. (and how would you tell anyway?)
Attitude
Somewhat Xenophobic. A minimum of 90% of this species could be categorised as
"pathological liars", and are
completely untrustworthy. The other 10% would sell their mothers into slavery...
if the price is right... and can be trusted about as far as an ant could throw
an elephant on Jupiter (ie. not at all...). Also, highly aggressive in defence.
While there is no direct evidence of contact by previous species (except the
Borg, and only on visual examination of the various planets and by questioning
of the natives, if you can believe them) these guys will react to any show of
force much along the lines of an ant colony defending itself. Lots of soldiers
with big guns that shoot first and then shoot
again to make sure.... but they dont generally go looking for a fight
Conclusion
Could be effectively the "continued antogonist" role to the Endeavour.
Anytime something bad happens in DQ, these
guys could be behind it (particularly if it will have bad effects on the Endy).
Know a lot about the Borg (if anyone from SCI is able to get into one of these
guys labs... which wont happen unless they break in through security tougher
than Fort Knox... they will find several Borg "Specimens" complete
with individual labels on each individual part, and all neatly packed in display
cases..), but do not feel threatened by them. If anything these guys could hold
their own against any Borg resurgance (and UCIP might be asking them for help!).
They dont appear to travel outside of their own solar system, but then again
that's what they will tell anyone who asks.. (see above for Attitude).
All in all, these guys could be considered along the lines of the Romulans in STTOS (with Kirk et al).... The perinnel "Bad guys" that the Endy has to thwart.
