2. Star System
The Molations are found in an area of space called the "Spinward march" this a densely populated area of space consisting of 16 sub-sectors containing 440 planets, which 223 contain life, this area of space is found in the Beta quadrant in sector 0803.

The Molations were first encountered in sub-sector 09 by Captain Roger Boren, Commander S'itari (XO) and Lt commander Fox (Csec).

The homeworld can be found in sub-sector 05 in a system orbiting a single star with 6 planets, the homeworld is the third after the star.

Cherkush
This is the main star in the system, classfied by our standards as a G-type similar to the star in the Sol system. Its main colour is bright yellow. The surface temperature has been determined as being 5874 Kelvin and its core temperature is 29,000 Kelvin. The diameter of Cherkush is 1,985,000 km. The mass of the star has been determined as being 2.64e30kg. The energy output of the star has been calculated as 4.00e33 ergs/sec or 400 Billion Billion megawatts, produced by nuclear fusion reactions happening in the core of the star.

In the system there are six planets, three of which are in Cherkush's hot zone, the other three are located in Cherkosh's cold zone.

Bekat
Is the first planet orbiting Cherkush. Bekat is a class J planet. The diameter of Bekat is 4,880 km with the mass being 1/10 of Earth. Due to weak gravity and high levels of solar radiation the atmosphere of Bekat is very thin or at times none at all. Has the average temperature of 420C/ 790F during the day and -180C/ -290F at night, it rotates every 59 Federation standard days, but the length of its solar day is 176 Federation standard days (sunrise to sunrise). It has no moons orbiting it. it orbits Cherkush every 88 federation days. Bekat orbits Cherkush at 60,000,000 Km.

Che'Kut
Is the second planet orbiting Cherkush. Che'Kut is a class C planet. The diameter of Che'Kut is 12,203 km. Mass is 81/100 of Earth. Due to greenhouse effect on planet with a dense atmosphere of Carbon dioxide, the surface temperature is extremely hot last measured as 470 C / 878 F. It rotates every 243 Federation standard days, but the length of its solar day is 116 Federation Standard days. It has no moons orbiting it. it orbits Cherkush every 225 federation standard days. Che'Kut orbits Cherkush at 80,000,000 km.

Molatia
Is the third planet orbiting Cherkush. Molation is a class M planet, with 82% of the planet covered in water. The diameter of the planet is 19,175 km with a mass of 6.02e23 Kg. The atmosphere is 77% Nitrogen with 21% Oxygen with traces of Argon, Carbon dioxide and water. Molation has one satellite orbiting it known as Kiro with a diameter of 3,152 Km and a mass of 7.64e22 Kg and orbits from Molation at 290,000 Km. Molation orbits Cherkush at 320,000,000 Km.

Krat
Is the fourth planet orbiting Cherkush. Krat is a class A planet. it has a diameter of 200,000 km and a mass of 2.0532e27kg. The planet's upper atmosphere contains 74% Hydrogen and 15% Helium but also contains trace amounts of different gases, main ones are as follows : Methane, Ammonia, ethane, acetylene, water vapour, phosphine, carbon monoxide and germanium tetrahydride. Krat has a total of 4 satellites which is the highest amount in the system. Rico is the closest and largest of the four. It has a diameter of 7,149 Km, a mass of 9.9586e22kg and orbits at 140,000km.
Zanfras is the second satellite orbitting at 225,000 km with a diameter of 2,005 km and a mass of 4.98e22kg. Thorka is the third and smallest moon with a diameter of 1004 km , a mass of 3.04e22 km and orbits Krat at 275,000 km. Tikris is the fourth and final moon orbitting Krat, it has a diameter of 4870 km, a mass of 8.75e22 kg and orbits Krat at 400,000 km. Krat orbits Cherkush at 370,000,000 Km

Miran
Is the fifth planet orbiting Cherkush. Miran is a class L planet. Miran is the smallest planet in the system. With a diameter of 9,125 Km and a mass of 9.5841e23kg. The atmosphere is 83% Hydrogen, 15% Helium and 2% Methane. Miran orbits Cherkush at 400,000,000 Km and has no satellites.

Mitas
Is the sixth and final planet orbiting Cherkush. Mitas is a class T planet. Mitas has a diameter of 350,000 Km making it by far the largest of the planets in the system. The planet has low radiation and high gravity this allows it to keep a thick atmosphere with Hydrogen and Hydrogen compounds that surround a solid core. Infra-red radiation is present due to high core temperatures, which cause them themn to radiate them enough that liquid water is present. Mitas orbits Cherkush at 430,000,000 Km.

3. Molatia - Planet

Temperature ranges from 40-99 F depending on the placement of orbit around its star. The planet has a wide variety of animals and plants. Molations are able to grow their own food. The planet has three major continents, with many small islands. The Western continent is the largest and is named Mikal. There are sixteen major cities on the three continents, the two largest on the Western continent are R'Pel (Capital) and S'tra.

Total Population : 15 billion.

4. Natural Resources

The moon Kiro contains high amounts of Dilithium. The planet Mitas contains high amounts of Nitrium, Deuteurium and Serelium.

5. Government

The ruling council is similar to the Klingon High Council. The twenty-five people who contribute the most for the benefit of the planet form the council. The positions of the members are comparable to that of a minister of a specific area of expertise. (Finance, Culture, Off-world affairs etc). The members of the council then decide who are their two top candidates and then these are told to the people who then decide who they wish to see as their first minister if it can not be decided or the public don't like either of them then all 25 members are put up for nomination and are
eliminated from each round of voting in this order:

Round one : Lowest 5
Round Two : Lowest 5
Round three : Lowest 10
Round Four : Lowest 4

N.B. Lowest means the number with the lowest number of votes in the total allocated by the people.

If there is a challenge to the election decision, two events may occur:

1) The Independent adjudicator (usually someone not associated with any members of the council) and his/her team decides if there is a sufficient case the election process will have to be restarted, if not the minister who made the complaint by law would be dismissed and his deputy would replace him/her.

2) An armed combat to the death has been known to occur but this is only done if the election has been restarted three times, which the Judge Advocate General would officiate but this has not happened for over 350 years. There is the first minister (President or prime minister) and then the other 24 members make up the ministers for specific departments e.g Defence. This process occurs every ten years due to the complexity of the electoral process. The members of the council other than the first minister can be replaced if they are voted off in a majority vote by the other members, if there is a deadlock then the 1st minister gets involved.

There is a second council called the Tri'Kan this is an elected house of members elected on a county basis across the planet, there are approximately 950 counties over three continents so some decisions can take some time!

The agenda to be discussed can be seen before hand by any person on the planet who wishes to see it through a link with the central access node. All people on Molation are encouraged to speak and suggest ideas to their representives, a new second council is elected every 20 years.

6. History

The Molations were not always as militaristic as they seem to be, nor as divided. Ten thousand years ago they were a peaceful people who were mainly based in agriculture, they lived an idyllic life during that time and there was little war or even arguement during that time but that changed after an ecological catastrophe hit the world and they were faced with the ominous task of either killing half the population or starving to death.

The ecological catastrophe was an asteroid bombardment which caused the planet's axis to move one degree closer to the sun Chemosh, thus causing massive geological and ecological problems for the Molation people, but they were a strong people, even against the odds they decided against killing half the population and resorted to let nature taking its course, after three years thirty percent of the population had died due to starvation or disease and a further 20% were dying due to disease, it was estimated that the entire population would of died in two years, but a miracle occured a race known to the Molations as the "fiery people" came from space and helped cure the Molations of their sickness in exchange for the Molation's services.

At this time the Molation people had no choice it was either that or extinction so they joined the "fiery people" so in exchange for the "Fiery people" curing and teaching the Molation people their ways and knowledge the Molations had to accept the laws and customs of the "Fiery people". One of the main laws was that no Molation may kill another unless it was to prevent damage being caused to the whole Molation people. The "fiery people" were strict but only behaved like this so they could help the Molation people, otherwise in private they were a kind and compassionate race.

This relationship continued for well over three thousand years when the "Fiery people" decided that the Molations had been taught all they could teach them and it was time for the Molation people to touch the skies themselves, the "fiery people" did promise however that they would return to check up on their "Children" and that every thousand years for twenty thousand years an orb would be released from the world of the "Fiery people" and will appear on the Molation homeworld containing knowledge, similar to the Bajoran orbs. Then they left the same way as they arrived in a "ship of fire".

During the next five millennia the Molation people spread across their world and lived in relative peace and formed their world government which is when the problems began. The government wanted to spread the Molation people's wings amongst the stars like the "Fiery people" had commanded but some of the population had wanted to remain isolated until all the orbs had been sent by the "Fiery people", this would of not caused so much strife if the main supporters of isolationism had not of destroyed the entire first government by bombing it and killing the survivors one by one against the commandments of the "Fiery ones". This caused the entire Molation people to go mad causing a civil war which has lasted on and off with various ceasefires the longest being a two centuries to the shortest being 3 weeks over the two millennia even during the present when they first encountered representatives of the Federation, the USS Cortez.

7. Society

The Molations believe in equity. They encourage their children, male or female, to follow their calling, whatever it may be. The only thing they try to force on their children is their history and traditions. They believe that their traditions can only survive as long as they are kept alive and remembered, they will always be alive through their contributions.

They have a strong, fierce bond with their planet. Although they have a high level of technology and have developed many gadgets to makelife easy for them, Molations are taught in childhood how to live and cope without them. Their beliefs in their traditions and history reminds them of the times before the "Fiery people" had arrived and saved them from extinction. The elderly are not important to the society, having out-lived their usefulness they are kept in relative luxury to live out the remainder of their days in the family home surrounded by their loved ones. The Molation society has only one taboo, and that is their religion, outsiders are not advised to denounce the Molation belief in the "Fiery people" because there have been cases of Molations killing each other after someone said something which was seen as be heresy.

All other topics are discussed openly, in fact, when not in negotiations, the Molations are very direct, candid and straight forward people, compared to human standards, and this may at times be perceived as them being very blunt by off worlders.

8. Religion

The Molations have a firm belief in the "Fiery people" these are similar to the Bajoran prophets, and like the Bajorans the Molations see the orbs as being the answers to questions that a mortal person can not find by looking in books.

The Molations don't really have any real festivals they only celebrate three times a year the coming of the "Fiery people" who saved them from extinction, on these days they pray, celebrate and fast at the same time.
They have a holy book know as the "Torat" where it holds the history of the Molation people this has to be read by all Molation families especially the males of the population since it is the law that the Male of the family pass down the history of their race down to the next generation.

They are a very spiritual and open-minded people and so as long as they are compatible with the beliefs of the "Fiery people" they will allow outsiders into their holy sites otherwise they would still talk about their beliefs to you but not allow into the holy sites to prevent the "Fiery people" froim getting upset with them.

9. Culture

The Molation culture is one based on the expansion of the mind but also of order. They are a compassionate people who are willing to help all outsiders as long as it does not conflict with their beliefs in the "Fiery people". They are normally peaceful unless someone threatens the planet or their society where they can become violent.
On a personal level they are very protective of their loved ones and things held important to them. If an Molation accepts an outsider into their heart or home and holds them dear, then they are accepted into that protection. They still believe in family having right to vengeance in anyway they see fit.

But in most cases this involves imprisonment and the perpetrator's family turns their back on the individual and will not support the individual in any form unless he/she has been found not guilty or has served their time where they would gratefully allow them to return.

There are only three crimes that are punishible by death these are: Murder, Heresy or High treason (e.g. betraying the Molation people to their enemies). Other wise the Molation people are willing to let their hair down and enjoy a good time.

10. Technology

Before their civil war some 2000 years ago, they had a level of technology that was comparable to that on Earth in the early 23rd century which was taught to them by the "Fiery people". The war destroyed most of that, it took them nearly 100 years to regain that level again, once the war had started and since then had made progress but it would be much quicker if the war had not impeded their research.

They built a space station in orbit of the planet and set off to find resources and life on other planets. Seven ships were sent out in their pre warp era, all seven came back with new knowledge, resources and technology, this did not however include the warp drive.

Within 10 years of all the ships returning they had developed their own warp drive and cloaking device which most outsiders don't know about, like Romulan technology it uses a lot of power. At present they are drawing up designs for a prototype transwarp drive and upgrades to their weaponary and navigational systems which they received from the "Fiery people" two years ago.

They have a planetary defence network which will soon be operational as soon as the negotiations between the two rival parties have ended their differences.

11. Molations - Appearance

Molations are quite short with an average height of just under five feet, with long slender arms and legs. Their heads are round and smooth and slightly out of proportion, they have no ears although they have a sound cavity receptor at the base of their neck. The Molations mainly have green eyes, with their hair being of a bright yellow which can be quite surprising for someone meeting the Molations for the first time. Their skin colour is dark grey, Molations age slower than Humans and live for almost five times our lifespan.

12. Molations - Anatomy

The Molations have a decentralised nervous system unlike the majority of races encountered by the Federation this allows the Molations to have similar but stronger regenerative abilities than the Takarian people, with one major difference the Molations can regenerate even when there is only three original cells remaining of their body!
They have two hearts, this allows the Molations to do more physical work than a human is possible of doing and it is possible that the two hearts due to evolution are in the Molation bidy so if one fails the other takes over.
Their respiratory system is mainly just a filtering system so the vast majority of gaseous poisons do not effect them at all, Molations do not require as much food or water as we do, so this allows them to go live twice as long as humans in situations where is a lack of food or water.

Their bodies, have a self-defence mechanism which when the Molation is enduring extreme and enduring pain, the metabolism, respiration and circulation are reduced until the person appears dead.
