VALNARA
- Data Compiled by: Ensign Piper St Cloud <scottwmhill@hotmail.com>, ASCI, Trilista Colony

Background
Valnara was the site of a base of the crime-ring 'Twist', which abducted Cmdr Cintia Sha'mer, who was commanding an operation to infiltrate its ranks. USS Otira was despatched under Cmdr Simon Bolivar to perform an extraction mission. The base was later destroyed. The following is the data assembled by Mission Geologist Ens Piper St. Cloud.

Planetary Data
System Name: The Badlands
Position in System: Undetermined (There are few "stars" in the Badlands due to the environment of space in that area. However, there is enough ambient radiation to support the existence of Class M planets, sometimes referred to as "rogue planets".)
Number of natural satellites: 1
Planetary gravity: 0.96g

Planetary Size
Diameter: 12,300 km
Mean major circumference: 38,600 km
Percent land mass: 17%

Planetary conditions
Length of day: 19.3 standard hours
Atmospheric density: Normal (Negligible variance to standard Terran air pressure at sea level.)
General climate: Temperate (Valnara does not undergo seasonal changes because it receives radiation from all 360 degrees. Hence, there are no polar ice caps as well.)
Indigenous lifeforms: Valnara is home to a wide variety of vegetative and animal life. The vast majority of animal life on Valnara is marine.

Mineral content
Normal metals: 26%, mostly nickel and lead.
Radioactives: Unknown Undeterminable due to the nature of the plasmic storms that make up the area known as The Badlands. (Due to the presence of lead in the Valnaran crust, it is reasonable to conclude that radioactive materials are present in trace amounts at least.)
Gemstones: Unknown
Industrial crystals: Unknown
Special minerals: Unknown

Cultural Data:
There is no known indigenous intelligent lifeform that inhabits Valnara.

Notes: No complete survey of Valnara to date. There exist no above-ground structures on Valnara's two main continents, but a vast cavernous system on the larger northern continent. The upper section of this underground network was most deffinitely natural. However, it did connect to a distinctly man-made system of "tunnels", with manufactured materials present. In addition, Keldonite is present in the core.

Cross Reference -> LCARS FILE ENTRY KELDONITE

Keldonite is a naturally occuring metallic element that has refractory properties. There are no known practical industrial uses for this element.
